.25 Arrive at the top of Andrews Glacier at Andrews Pass. Look around so that you can tell where the pass is if you ascend Taylor. Assuming the weather looks clear (storms from the west are the most common; storms from the east are worse), you can follow whatever route looks least steep to the top of Taylor. Stay slightly west of the Continental Divide to avoid east-facing cliffs. Absent fog, you likely can see them and not walk off them, but they might increase the labor if you end up on a lower bump north of Taylor.

.24 Arrive at the summit of Taylor Peak. Head back to Andrews Pass by the least-steep route.

.0 Stumble, slip, and slide (or, better, carefully walk) to the bottom of Andrews Glacier, which enters Andrews Tarn.

.5 Make your way around to the east end of Andrews Tarn to find a trail that follows Andrews Creek into Loch Vale.

.0 Reach the west end of The Loch. Continue on the trail to the east end for a photo of Taylor Peak and Taylor Glacier above the lake.

.6 Arrive at Alberta Falls, named by pioneer innkeeper (and occasional punster) Abner Sprague, who also named The Loch after a guest named Locke. (Alberta was Abner’s wife.)

.3 Come to a trail junction. Glacier Gorge Trailhead is to the right (shorter). Bear Lake is to the left in 0.4 mile.

.5 Reach the Glacier Gorge Trailhead. Catch a free shuttle back to Bear Lake or pick up a car previously placed at Glacier Gorge Trailhead.
